Useful educational webinar

Attended an educational webinar on 3D printing in healthcare. It was informative. Good content, easy to follow. Worth my time.

Amazing anatomical model!

I received an anatomical model for my studies and it's fantastic! The detail is really impressive and it's already helped me understand complex structures so much better. I donated to get it, and I'm really glad I did. The quality was higher than I expected for a non-profit. I'm definitely going to check out their other resources and tell my classmates about them!

Great value, good mission

I was looking for some STEM resources for my kids and stumbled upon Makers4medicine. I got a '3D Printing Curriculum' package for a donation, which felt like a really good deal. It wasn't a discount in the usual sense, but knowing my money goes to support their work made it feel worth it. The materials were solid, definitely enhanced our home learning setup.

Consistent quality, great purpose

I've supported Makers4medicine a few times now, mainly for their 'open source medical designs'. This last time, I requested a prosthetic prototype design. Just like before, the communication was clear and the files were delivered promptly. Their commitment to making these resources available is why I keep coming back. It's always a reliable experience, and I appreciate what they do for the community.

Thinking of getting one of the STEM education kits for my kid's class. Is shipping free for those or do they charge extra?

M Mark V. 2 months ago
Pretty sure shipping isn't free for the kits. I remember paying for it when I got one for my niece.

D David Z. 2 months ago
I don't think they offer free shipping on their educational kits. It's usually an added cost since they're a non-profit and every penny counts.

Is Makers4medicine legit? Like, are they a real non-profit or just some online thing?

M Mark 2 months ago
Yeah, they're a legitimate 501c3 non-profit. You can usually find that info on their website.

Totally legit. They're a registered non-profit. You can even claim donations on your taxes because of their status.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows how long it usually takes to get one of their medical models after requesting it? I need it for a project pretty soon.

M Mia D. 2 months ago
I requested a custom anatomical model last year, and it took about 3-4 weeks to get it. They're pretty busy, so it's not super fast.

Yeah, I think their lead time for 3D printed tools can vary a lot depending on complexity and their current queue. You might want to reach out to them directly if you have a tight deadline.

What's the best way to get involved if I want to help out? Do they need people with 3D printing experience?

J June Hughes 2 months ago
They're always looking for volunteers, and yes, 3D printing skills are super useful! They also do training.

M Marcus 2 months ago
You can sign up to volunteer on their site. They have different roles, and experience with 3D printing or even just general STEM enthusiasm is a big plus. They also have workshops where you can learn.

Can you return a STEM kit if it's not what you expected? Just curious before I pull the trigger.

I Ivy P. 2 months ago
I'm not sure about returns on purchased kits. Since they're a non-profit, their policy might be different than a regular store. You'd probably have to ask them directly.

I haven't tried to return anything, but I imagine it might be tricky. They're not like a typical retailer. Might be worth checking their site or emailing them about it.

Are there any promo codes or anything floating around for their workshops? Trying to get into one of those.

D Dana A. 1 month ago
Nah, they don't really do promo codes since they're a non-profit. The workshop access usually comes from donations or being a volunteer, I think.

I haven't seen any coupon codes for them. Your best bet is probably to look into their membership or volunteer opportunities, sometimes that comes with workshop benefits.

How does Makers4medicine compare to something like Enabling the Future? Are they similar or totally different focuses?

B Beth P. 2 months ago
Enabling the Future is mostly about prosthetic hands for kids, right? Makers4medicine seems broader, doing all kinds of medical models and education too, not just prosthetics.

O Omar 2 months ago
They both use 3D printing for good, but Makers4medicine has a bigger focus on educational resources and making medical models for training, not just end-use prosthetics like E-Nable.

Does Makers4medicine offer student discounts for their resources or workshops? I'm a med student.

A Amber Patel 2 months ago
They don't have traditional student discounts, but they do have student chapters and volunteer programs that can get you access to stuff.

C Cleo 1 month ago
Instead of discounts, they really focus on providing free resources and opportunities for students through their initiatives and curriculum. Not a direct discount, but still helpful.
